Visual Design - Line Drawing - Graphics Tablet - Shade and Colouring - 1-2 Hours

For this piece we were given the image the left, we then had to use our graphics tablet to shade and colour in that piece using only a certain palette of colours (shown in the top right hand corner). This piece was set and completed in class time after an introduction, it took just over an hour to complete. This is my second time using a graphics tablet and I think I'm gradually getting used to it, I am happy with my progress and can't wait to put my skills to the test in the next piece, hoping to carry on improving.

Visual Design - Final Robot Sketch

This is the final design for my first assignment. The assignment involved sketching 3 robot designs and then a final design (which is this). I took inspiration from my previous sketches where I drew a robot parrot, then I thought robot pirates sound really cool and what's more cool than a robot pirate captain? However at this point in time I was unable to acquire any fine liner pens, so unfortunately the outline how to be completed in Biro. I did add detail to this piece, I would add more if I could but there wasn't enough time. On the hat of this mechanical robot pirate captain in the blue banner is binary code, this code spells out "Yarr" which is a stereotypical saying for pirates. The beard is made from chains, I'm rather disappointed and would like to increase the density of the chains and increase the darkness of the entire piece to create a more ominous appearance. On his buckle on the strap of his coat there is a USB connector, this links in with the robot theme (all robots need updates of course and I hope to update this piece, improving it some time in the future).

Visual Design - Robot Sketches

For this assignment I had to design robots, these were the 3 initial sketching ideas I came out with. As I really liked the mechanical parrot idea and so for my final idea decided to have a pirate theme, where I would draw a robot pirate captain. I used H pencils for these sketches but if I were to continue these sketches I would add colour, more detail and outline them with 0.3 fine liner pens.

Visual Design - My First Graphics Tablet Piece - Robot - 1 Hour

This was a task set in class, we had roughly 1 hour to use a printed picture of a robot to copy in by hand into a digital format. This task was a basis to using graphics tablets and my first time using one. Considering the circumstances I am happy with this piece and only hope to improve over time.
